Yes. It’s fun and very rewarding, plus learning is more fun than teaching. I have always taught myself and have been fortunate to have been mentored by some awesome people on the guitar. All it takes for a beginner to succeed is a solid knowledge of the basics of guitar and the ability to play a little.
What types of skills will I experience on my guitar lessons?
Just like on your piano lessons, you will find many guitarists with different skill sets. The majority of lessons in any given week will feature an “Intro Guitar and Bass Song Workout” where you will practice a song, pick your guitar, and learn the basic chords and harmonies for the song. There are also songs on the other skillsets that you will learn over week.
Who should I teach?
Good questions! I personally have a ton of students that have great skill sets in every skill. It really helps when those students can share their experience, as well as learn something from each other to advance! You can always find me on Facebook if that’s where you go to.
I’d never think of going out and doing it myself, but it sounds like some of your students are doing it. What advice do you have when it comes to choosing a teacher?
It’s a personal style and skill set that you may not be able to have at your own guitar studio. Sometimes I use teachers I know from my own studio, but others I just happen to get along with. Be comfortable with someone for a long enough relationship that you feel comfortable bringing them into your studio space. Then, you’ll know what you can offer that the other person is lacking!
How do I help grow my business?
In addition to teaching music online for a living, I run my business using my skills and expertise in the business development process from design to marketing. The more you know about how to design, market, and sell software, the more competitive you’ll feel in the marketplace. This means if you have that skill in your wheelhouse, I can help you find great partners and clients to help you grow.
If you are looking to start out in the music industry, there are definitely great resources out there that can get you started. But ultimately that’s what I use to keep my business growing.
If you’re looking to start your own music business, just make sure that your business is profitable and is a good fit for you. If not, I’d also
