I’m not a professional but you’re not going to know the answer for sure. I have to practice every day just to do what I’m doing, so it happens at my own pace. If I practice for 2 hours a day, and I do my own tuning, then I’m not going to sit and tune for 6 hours when I should be able to, so I won’t keep all my parts together. I keep a list of what parts I need to tune and all of the notes I need to add into chords, but I won’t go and do the entire tune until I’ve worked out all of the problems.
For example, I’m the only person who plays the bass so when I’m doing the bass parts I have to play the bass on the downbeat of the second beat of every bar, to see if it fits right. If it doesn’t, then I have to re-read it and double the notes on the bass part until the new part fits in. When a bar ends, I might say “All right.” Then I go back to the bass part and try again. If it works, that means that my bass part got the best notes I needed for playing my part. If I’m wrong, I have to put down an extra note so that I don’t miss something. If I end up screwing up in some way at some point, it’s a really minor problem compared to making these small adjustments throughout the day.
Anyway, I’m not saying don’t do the thing, I’m just saying that I’ll have to do it on my own schedule. If I’m trying to get a hold of a string I can’t reach with a finger, I have to play the whole thing. If it’s a melody part, like we talked about, then I can just play it off of the note pattern, which is a bit of a pain. On top of that, I have to use all the techniques and techniques that I think are important to me playing all of this music. It’s a very, very involved process. It takes a lot out of me. I hate it. It feels really, really important to me, and I wish I could focus more on other things in life. All I know about music is that it helps me remember the names of all of my friends and family members every time my hands get a little bit tired.
I have to say at this point that I’m still really into my violin. It’s the best instrument that
